Expert Answers about Chevrolet Trailer Ramps

  • Can All Left or Right Heavy Duty Trailer Ramp Springs be Used to Replace 2 Ramps with 1 Long Ramp
  • Since you are removing the 2 ramps and putting in a single ramp then you can use all left or all right ramp springs as long as they engage the ramp like they are supposed to and there is room to mount them. Regarding your follow-up question, yes, that is correct. The spring tension will occur when the ramp opens. That tension will help support the weight when lowering and when lifting the ramp. It sounds like you have a good handle on this already!

  • Will The Gen-Y Hitch Aluminum Loading Ramp Allow For Use on a Dump Trailer?
  • Our loading ramps like the Gen-Y Hitch Aluminum Loading Ramp Set # 325-GH-R96 are designed to hook into the channels generally found on car hauler type trailers. You could weld on this type of channel on the end of your trailer bed or cut some notches in your bed depending on the bed construction of your trailer. These ramps are 8' long and reasonably light at only 53lbs per ramp. With that light weight they are rated for weights up to 5,000lbs per ramp or up to 10,000lbs for your equipment.

  • Recommended Ramps To Load Jeep And UTV Into Enclosed Trailer
  • All of the ramps we have that can hold your Jeep, such as the Aluminum Car Hauler Ramp Set - 72" x 14-1/2" - 6,000 lbs # 288-07503, have a lip on the front of the ramp to attach to a channel on the trailer. Since your trailer doesn't have this channel, I don't recommend using these ramps because they won't have a good place to be mounted and may slide around. I think your best option here is to go with something similar to the ramps in your trailer which have a flat style front piece. The...

  • Can Heavy Duty Trailer Ramp Springs be Used on a Bobcat Trailer
  • The ramp spring # RS16933LH does fit heavy equipment trailers that have a 1-1/2 inch diameter shaft (or hinge pin where the ramps pivot). It is a weld on application so I am sure that if your trailer has the proper diameter shaft then you can use these springs. There is a left spring, # RS16933LH, and a right spring, # RS16933RH, and you would not want to mix them up because they would not mount properly to be able to function as they should. These springs are rated for 2,000 foot pounds...

  • Choosing/Sizing the Correct Trailer Ramp Spring for a Ramp Door
  • When selecting ramp springs for a trailer ramp, you will want to know the diameter of your hinge pin and how much space you have available in the hinge. A typical horse trailer or utility trailer ramp uses 3/4 inch hinge pins and would require two ramp springs with a 3/4 inch inner diameter. The ramp springs that we carry fit 1-1/2 inch diameter hinge pins and are designed for use with heavy-duty steel ramps like those on equipment trailers or car haulers. The spring slips over the hinge...

  • U-Pack Semi Trailers have a 48" height from the ground whereas the typical application for ATV ramps like the CargoSmart Arched Loading Ramp Set # 3483070 are trailers and truck beds which are usually at most 23" inches in height. Because of this the ramps will be very steep when used on a U-Pack trailer but should allow you to get your Kawasaki Mule loaded. These ramps are rated for 3,000lbs which is almost double the curb weight of your Kawasaki Mule. They have cam-buckle straps to prevent...

  • Will Race Ramps Trailer Ramps Work When Loading Motorcycles In 2012 Work And Play Toy Hauler
  • The best way to make sure the Race Ramps Trailer Ramps, part # RR-TR-6, will work for you is to measure the distance from the top of your ramp door to the ground. If the distance from the top of your toy hauler door when it is open is 6 inches or less, then the # RR-TR-6 ramps should work great for you. These have a textured surface that helps prevent them from sliding and they are built with an 8.2 degree angle to help low to the ground vehicles like your motorcycles from scraping.

  • Folding Ramp Needed that is 60 Wide
  • The Folding Steel Ramp # PS1040200 that you referenced is actually a fit for Pro Series cargo carriers that fit in a trailer hitch receiver directly which is why it has a shorter width. Although we don't have a ramp that installs permanently, we do have plenty of ramp options for loading cargo in your trailer. I have linked a page that includes the removable options that we do have but the closest thing would be the CargoSmart Loading Ramp Set # 3483075 which measures 69" long and 45" wide.

  • Availability of Replacement Ramp Springs for 6" Ramp Springs
  • The closest springs that we have to what you are looking for are the 4" springs # RS16933LH for the left hand side and # RS16933RH for the right hand side. These are rated for 2,000 ft/lbs and will do a good job at helping you lift your ramps. I would try checking to see what your current springs are rated for as well. If you have an older trailer then it could be that they are simply wearing out but if it is a newer trailer then you may need springs that are more heavy duty.

The only thing to consider with this is that the unit will be either right in front of or behind your horses Most horse trailers utilize an enclosed trailer ramp spring like the Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring - Dual Spring, 81" Wide # ERS120D81. These are more like garage door springs, and use cables to lower and raise the ramp. It is recommended...

  • I do have an option for you but all of the ramps like part # 288-07432 that we carry will not attach the tapered wide bumper that you have in your photo. I recommend to use ramp ends part # 288-07400 on the rubber bumper then you can use 2" x 8' boards as your ramp. These ramp ends measures 5" long and 1" deep.

  • Trailer Loading Ramps Needed for a Trailer Floor that is 22 High
  • I do have a solution for you, but the Aluminum Car Hauler Ramp Set # 288-07503 that you referenced has a max height of 16" for loading equipment. I did speak with my contact at Gen-Y Hitch who said that their aluminum loading ramps don't have a height restriction as they leave that up to the customer's discretion. Their part # 325-GH-R72 has dimensions of 72" long x 14" wide and they also have a 6,000 lb weight capacity. To ensure that you can safely load your trailer I recommend trying...

  • Ramp Springs for Flatbed Car Hauler Trailer with 220-lb Ramp
  • For your 82-inch wide ramp whose weight you estimate at about 220-lbs, the 2K ramp springs # RS16933LH and # RS16933RH should work well as long as you have a 1-1/2-inch round shaft to match the springs' inside diameter. If you check out the linked video on these items you'll see that they worked well on smaller ramps that were a bit lighter than your ramp will be. Since the springs provided a bit more tension than necessary in that application they should be perfect for yours.

  • Can The Gorilla Lift Function In Conjunction With A Fold-Flat Ramp Gate
  • For the Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist w/ Cable # GL1 you should not have any issue with your 5' fold down ramp flat. The cables, however, are not that easy but not impossible to remove should your ramp be an issue as they are through bolted through the ramp.

  • Compatibility of the Mad-Ramps Pivoting Ramp System # MR54FR with 10 Ft. Wheelbase Golf Cart
  • While we have a great ramp set you can use, the Mad-Ramps Pivoting Ramp System # MR54FR will not work with your 10' (120") wheelbase on your Advance EV golf cart. This is because the # MR54FR only accommodates wheelbases up to 88" measured from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle. As a great alternative, I recommend using a ramp set like the Arched Loading Ramp # 288-07452-2. This ramp set has a maximum weight capacity of 1,500 pounds and folds for easy storage....

  • How Large is the Gap Between the Hook and the Ramp of the Gen-Y # 325-GH-R84?
  • Yes. You will be able to use the Gen-Y Hitch Aluminum Loading Ramp Set - 84" Long x 14" Wide - 6,000 lbs # 325-GH-R84 with your 1-3/4" lip. Since the gap between the hook and the ramp is 2 inches, you have enough room. I went ahead and attached a photo of this dimension for your convenience. Also, I confirmed that this ramp has a maximum deck height of 36 inches, so your 34-inch height is not a problem. You also have plenty of weight capacity on the ramp for your 3000-pound hobby tractor.

  • Will Rack Em Trailer Tailgate Assist # RA-27C Lift a Ramp Gate That Weighs 300lbs
  • I spoke with my contact at Rack Em, and the # RA-27C tail gate assist would work for your 300lb gate ramp, but you would probably need to install two of the units, one on each side, to significantly reduce the operating weight of the ramp. Using one of the assists would reduce the weight of the ramp, but it would most likely not make it as light as you would like, especially since the ramp is already so tall and heavy. I have included a link to the installation instructions below, if needed.
